How does RFID windshield tag work in cars access control

Apr 15, 2023

RFID windshield tags work in car access control systems by transmitting a unique identification number to a reader when the tag is within range. The reader then compares this identification number to a database of authorized access codes to determine whether or not the vehicle is authorized to enter the controlled area or access a specific facility.

In a typical car access control system, the RFID windshield tag is affixed to the inside of the windshield and contains a small RFID chip and antenna. When the vehicle approaches the access point, such as a gate or a reader installed in a parking lot, the reader emits a low-level radio frequency signal that energizes the tag. The tag then responds by transmitting its unique identification number back to the reader using radio waves.

Once the reader receives the tag's identification number, it compares it to a database of authorized tags and access codes to determine if the vehicle is permitted to enter. If the tag is authorized, the access control system opens the gate or barrier to allow the vehicle to enter. If the tag is not authorized, the access control system denies entry and may alert security personnel.

RFID Vehicle Access Control

RFID windshield tags are a popular choice for car access control systems because they are convenient, reliable, and difficult to tamper with. They also provide a high level of security, as each tag is uniquely coded and difficult to duplicate or forge. Their ability to provide secure and convenient access control, as well as tracking and management functionality, make them a valuable asset in many applications.
