What is RFID token?

Apr 27, 2023

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification, and an RFID token is a small electronic device that uses radio waves to communicate with a reader to exchange information. These tokens can take various forms, such as key fobs, cards, wristbands, or stickers.

RFID tokens typically have a microchip and an antenna embedded in them, which allows them to transmit data wirelessly to an RFID reader. The reader sends out a signal, which the token picks up and responds to by transmitting its unique identifier or other data back to the reader.

RFID tokens are commonly used for access control systems, such as in offices, hospitals, and schools, where they can be used to grant or restrict access to certain areas or resources. They can also be used for inventory management, tracking items in a warehouse, or in retail stores for tracking products and preventing theft.
